Stephanie’s experience

Stephanie’s clinical experience spans across different group populations. She is experienced working with children, adolescents, and adults and she is also trained in parent counselling.

Stephanie is experienced in working with adolescents and adults with a wide range of difficulties including: depression/low mood; anxiety; stress; assertiveness; bullying; eating-related difficulties; interpersonal skills; life transitions; sleep difficulties; low self-esteem; academic stress, trauma-related difficulties; panic attacks; grief/bereavement, and relational difficulties. Stephanie also has experience working therapeutically with refugees and migrants.

Stephanie’s way of working

Stephanie uses an integrative approach in her work with clients. This means that she accesses tools from different therapeutic approaches in a manner that tailors her work to the client’s needs and goals. These therapeutic tools derive from emotion-focused, person-centered, existential, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral approaches. When working with younger populations, Stephanie will often use additional tools that are more creative and engaging. In this line of work, she will also involve the parents in the therapeutic process as much as possible.

Stephanie places value on building a strong therapeutic alliance, works collaboratively with her clients to help them set goals for therapy and works step-by-step with them to attain those. She always strives to enhance her clients’ sense of agency and autonomy and to help them find within them the resources they need to thrive in their personal and professional life.

Stephanie works on both a short- and a long-term basis, depending on the client’s presenting difficulties, needs and goals. At CiEFT she offers face-to-face sessions for individuals.

Stephanie’s training and background

Stephanie is a Ph.D candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Cyprus. She holds a master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from University College London (UCL) and a Psychology undergraduate degree from University College London (UCL). At present, she divides her time between doing clinical work and completing her doctoral thesis on immigrant youth resilience.  Stephanie has received training and supervision in various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered, mindfulness, and existential therapy approaches. She has also undertaken the first level of further specialist training in Emotion Focused Therapy with Prof. Elliott in London. Furthermore, she has completed another specialized training on working therapeutically with refugees and migrants as she has grown a particular interest in working with vulnerable groups.

During her doctoral studies, Stephanie has had the opportunity to teach various lectures at the psychology department of the University of Cyprus. Before moving to Cyprus, Stephanie worked as an assistant psychologist at Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. These projects gave her the opportunity to develop skills in dealing with clients from various cultural backgrounds in multidisciplinary settings.

She has previously ran therapy groups on interpersonal effectiveness, and facilitated several stress-management workshops. She has also led a workshop on raising awareness of children’s rights to secondary school students.

Stephanie deeply values continuous professional growth and pursues ongoing professional training and supervision.
