About Lilia

Lilia is a Clinical Psychology Ph.D candidate at the University of Cyprus, who also works towards her specialization at the Cyprus Institute of Emotion Focused Therapy under clinical supervision. She is also a neuroscience lecturer and a course leader at the University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus.

Description

Lilia works with both adults and couples.

She is able to work with individuals and couples with relationship troubles, psychosexual matters, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, trauma, grief & bereavement, life transitions, stress and anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, low mood & depression, sleep difficulties and many more. In her work with couples, Lilia is experienced in working with a wide range of issues and problems such as couple’s conflict, coping with life changes, LGBT, grief, intimacy matters, trauma (betrayal, cheating or break of trust), communication matters, relationship transitions (i.e., loss and divorce, bereavement), abuse, extramarital relationships, psychosexual problems.

Lilia works on both a short- and a long-term basis, depending on the client’s presenting difficulties, needs and goals. 

Lilia’s way of working:

Lilia uses a variety of therapies in her work with clients, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Person-Centered therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. She uses these approaches in a flexible, client-centred and collaborative way with clients and tailors her approach to help meet the unique needs and preferences of each individual.

Lilia’s training and background:

Lilia has worked in a number of different settings including primary and secondary care; and within educational establishments.

Lilia holds a degree in psychology and masters in counselling and in cognitive neuroscience. She has a doctorate degree in cognitive neuroscience from the University of York, UK and she is currently pursuing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Cyprus. Her research was published in distinguished scientific journals and she has presented her findings in various international conferences.

Lilia has also undertaken additional training in a number of areas including: training in Couples Therapy through the use of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and she is currently pursuing further knowledge in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as Psychosexual and Relationship certification.

Lilia is registered with the American Psychological Association (APA), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA).
